Neil Thorburn, a former dentist in the Royal Air Force, has joined Fareham-based Wessex Dental Specialist Centre as a Prosthodontist.
Neil joins the Centre from a private practice in Peterborough, where he provided general dental as well as specialist dental care. He has also been employed by a referral practice in Derbyshire, where he has provided crown, bridge and implant retained prosthodontics, working closely with Stephen Taylor, specialist in Oral Surgery, who has worked at the Wessex Dental Specialist Centre since it opened in 2004.
Prior to this, Neil was in the RAF for seventeen years, where after completing his Masters Degree in Conservative Dentistry, he was awarded Membership in General Dental Surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and appointed RAF Specialist at the Institute of Health and Training in Buckinghamshire. Neil provided restorative advice and treatment as well as running training courses for both service personnel and civilian dentists.
Neil is excited by his new challenge at the Wessex Dental Specialist Centre and said: "The Wessex Dental Specialist Centre has a very good reputation and it is this, as well as the excellent facilities and first class standards that attracted me to the south coast. I have come across many challenges in my career and I am really looking forward to the new opportunities at the Centre."
Clinical Director Michael Thomas added: "It's a great boost for everyone to have someone of Neil's experience working at the Centre. He obviously has tremendous knowledge and his skills and understanding can only benefit the patients as well as the other members of the dental team at the Wessex Dental Specialist Centre.
I know Neil was particularly interested in the training we run and I look forward to him getting involved and working with him on future sessions."
Away from work Neil likes to spend time with his wife and two children, as well as keeping up his interest in flying, particularly aerobatics. Neil is also an avid Welsh rugby fan. |
