ONE DAY FORENSIC DENTISTRY COURSE

This one day course is suitable for all members of the Dental Team who are interested in learning about the basic essentials of Forensic Dental Identification. It will be of particular interest to DCPs who have been selected to be part of the UK Disaster Victim Identification (UKDVI) Team.

The course will include a series of lectures taking students through the post mortem dental identification process including the role of HM Coroner, the value of DNA in post mortem identification, the mortuary and related Health and Safety issues. 

The course will be facilitated by Dr Roger Summers and Colonel James Hardy.

Dr Roger Summers

Dr Roger Summers is a former Director of Forensic Services in the Police Service. He has been involved in numerous murder investigations and many high profile cases, locally, nationally and internationally, almost all of which have led to successful detections and the offenders convicted.

He is a lecturer of international repute having given several hundred professional lectures and presentations in USA, Germany, Hungary, India, Jamaica, Mauritius, Russia and Switzerland

His expertise in Human Identification Techniques and forensic related matters are much in demand internationally both from a teaching and operational perspective.

Colonel James Hardy

Colonel James Hardy is a general dental practitioner with over 25 years experience of forensic Odontology. He is a passed President of the British Association for Forensic Odontology. He is a consultant to Kenyon International Emergency Services and until recently was a senior member of the Defence Dental Services Dental Identification Team. He is the author of the chapter on Forensic Odontology in the British Association for Human Identification publication 'Forensic Human Identification'. He has lectured widely, both nationally and internationally on the subject of Forensic Odontology including UK, France, Germany, Brunei and Thailand.
