Dental Hygienist CoursesContinuing Professional DevelopmentAll dental professionals, including the dental hygienist team, have a duty and responsibility to continue their professional education as stated in the General Dental Council's continuing professional development and maintaining standards guidance. With the changes to 'permitted duties' in July 2002, additional areas that could be performed by a dental hygienist demanded that those intending to perform these duties must have the appropriate training.
At the Wessex Dental Specialist Centre we are committed to providing initial extended duties training for dental hygienists including local anaesthetic administration, impression taking and temporary dressing placement. We also provide refresher courses on a variety of subjects such as cross infection control, periodontal disease and CPR training. The wealth of expertise that we have from the specialists at the Centre allows us to gain insight into the wider dental field. All have taught for undergraduate and postgraduate dental courses, and a number have experience in Dental Hygienist training. Our resident Hygienists also boast a former Hygienist tutor, and their broad knowledge of the subject is extremely valuable during training sessions. All courses meet the GDC criteria for continuing education, and certificates will be provided to add to your CPD portfolio. Please see our dental course timetable, which is constantly updated. | ||
