It was a hugely successful day for Fareham-based Wessex Dental Specialist Centre and Titchfield Dental Health, Park Gate, who both received prestigious awards at the Private Dentistry Awards ceremony held recently at London’s Café Royal.

The national awards recognise those dental practices that excel at their chosen area, with the Centre fighting off stiff competition to win the Best Specialist Referral Practice. Titchfield Dental Health was also successful in both their nominated categories, being highly commended in the Best Employer category, and runners up for the Most Improved Practice.

The awards recognise the very best in private dentistry in the UK, and the wins have certainly elevated both practices further. By uniquely offering five specialist areas of dentistry under one roof, the Wessex Dental Specialist Centre stood out as a clear winner to the judging panel, consisted entirely of dental professionals.

The Titchfield Dental Health’s professional and friendly staff nominated Clare Chavasse for the Best Employer category. The 15-strong team, owe the excellent open working environment to Clare’s direction and leadership.

Additionally, by offering a ‘preventive’ approach to dentistry, evolving their practices and reacting to the latest demands in dental technology, their runner up status in the Most Improved Practice was well deserved, in a highly contested category with eight shortlisted practices.

Clinical Director at the Wessex Dental Specialist Centre, Michael Thomas commented, “I am absolutely delighted with the award. It is the first time that we have entered any awards, and it is wonderful that all of the hard work the staff at the Centre have put in has been rewarded in this way. The Centre is a one-stop-shop for all disciplines of specialist dentistry, and combined with an in-house dental laboratory and training facilities, the Centre is one of the only practices of its kind. I am sure we can now continue to progress as a Centre of Excellence.”

Clare Chavasse added, “As a general dental practice, we are all delighted to be recognised at such a high standard. The quality of care and happy staff mean that our patients leave happy and refreshed, and we get some wonderful feedback from them. I was honoured to be nominated for Best Employer, I really value my staff and know that without them the practice would not be the place it is today. We had a lovely party afterwards to celebrate, and our commendations will be taking pride of place in the reception area of the practice.”
