Rachel Evans, Oral Surgeon

Staff at the Wessex Dental Specialist Centre are pleased to welcome the addition of Rachel Evans as an Oral Surgeon, working directly with Specialist Stephen Taylor.

Rachel has over seven years experience in oral surgery, qualifying from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1998 and gained membership to the Faculty of Dental Surgery in 2002. Rachel joins the Centre from a hospital background, having worked in the Maxillofacial and Oral surgery departments at both Queen Alexandra Hospital and Southampton General Hospital. She has also been widely accredited, receiving a Staff Achievement Award from Southampton General Hospital, the Wessex Regional Audit Award and the North of England Ondontological Society Elective Award.

Rachel will work alongside the head of the Oral Surgery department, Stephen Taylor, a specialist with over 30 years experience. Rachel will be working with Stephen to provide a range of surgical treatments including tooth extraction, removal of inflamed tissues or cysts around the tooth, placement of dental implants and bone grafting including sinus lifting. The surgical facilities at the Wessex Dental Specialist Centre mean that Rachel and Stephen offer treatments that require local anaesthetic or sedation.

Rachel’s appointment signifies a period of continued growth for the Centre, with more patients requiring the services of the Oral Surgery department in addition to the other specialist areas offered by the Centre including Orthodontics, Periodontics, Endodontics and Prosthodontics. “Rachel is a superb addition to the team at the Wessex,” comments Stephen Taylor. “Rachel’s experience and qualifications make her the ideal candidate to work alongside me, ensuring that the Oral Surgery department can provide the best service possible to their clients. Rachel’s arrival also signifies the continued growth in all of our departments, and both patients and dentists are beginning to see the benefits of having all of the specialist expertise under one roof.”
