The award is made to those Orthodontists who carry out a significant number of Invisalign treatments a year. The minimum amount of cases is 30, through Stewart has carried out a staggering 70. The international award was presented to him by the Managing Director at Align Technologies UK, Alison Davies.
Stewart was one of the first Orthodontists in the country to be accredited with this award, and has been using Invisalign increasingly in his treatment of teenagers and adult patients.
Stewart is one of five dental specialists at the Wessex Dental Specialist Centre. The Centre is unique to the region as it offers Endodontic, Prosthodontic, Periodontic, Orthodontic, Oral Surgery and Dental Laboratory resources under one roof. He comments “I am very pleased to receive the award for the third year running. It reflects my increasing recognition that Invisalign can be used to treat a wide range of Orthodontic problems in adults and teenagers.”
Traditional orthodontic appliances use wires and brackets which are commonly glued to the teeth. The Invisalign technique works by applying gentle pressure to the teeth over a period of six to eighteen months by using a series of clear removable aligners. The aligners can be removed for cleaning and eating but when in place are almost completely invisible and very comfortable to wear.
Stewart continues, “I have been using Invisalign for just over five years. Patients find them extremely easy to wear and are very pleased with the results obtained. As an appliance, I can see an increasing use of them in the future, a very exciting development for patients and orthodontists.”
