Dental Hygienist Treatment

Patients are assigned to one hygienist for continuing care.

Working under the direction of our Periodontist, our team of experienced dental hygienists carries out detailed and precise treatments to restore and maintain patients' oral hygiene.

All disciplines within the Wessex Dental Specialist Centre use the dental hygienists' skills. For example, the ongoing support for patients undergoing Orthodontics, where the wearing of appliances complicates cleaning and prior to and following complex bridge or implant provision, is fundamental to a healthy result.

The Personal Touch

There is a lot more than just scaling and polishing in the dental hygienists approach at the Centre; we are interested in the whole person, not just the mouth. For example, our dental hygienists also take a keen interest in the patients' diet and give anti-smoking advice on the preventive strategies most suited to your particular needs.

Our dental hygienists take part in our teaching programme for hygienists locally and thus contribute to the improvement of such services in the wider dental community.

Working with your dentist, we also provide hygienist treatment if your dental practice does not have an in-house dental hygienist.

We strongly recommend that patients who have received complex and implant treatments continue to receive supportive care with our dental hygienists to ensure the delivery of correct and appropriate after care, which is fundamental for long term successful treatment.
