Surgical Treatment

Surgical Dental Treatment, or Oral Surgery relates to surgical procedures carried out inside the mouth. Advances in training and equipment have meant that Oral Surgery, once only available in hospitals, can now be carried out at the Wessex Dental Specialist Centre by our Specialist in Oral Surgery, Stephen Taylor and supported by Oral Surgeon Rachel Evans.

Dental Surgery is usually carried out in the case of:

  • Dental implant placement
  • Extraction of fractured or heavily decayed teeth
  • Surgical removal of buried or impacted teeth e.g. wisdom teeth

                                    Removal of Impacted Wisdom Teeth

  • Removal of inflammatory tissue, cysts associated with teeth or soft tissue for testing or prior to fitting dentures
  • Grafting bone or gum tissue in areas where defects have formed

A full consultation on the procedure, pre and post operative care and expected time for recovery is carried out prior to the treatment. Sedation is also available for a wide range of treatments.

Full after care is given including medication, advice and follow up appointments.
